Pizza chef Johnny di Francesco of Melbourne's famous 400 Gradi restaurant has created a pizza with 99 varieties of cheese. It is part of a dairy theme he is working on at present, but we think he may have gotten a little carried away.
The motivation for this unique pizza pie, according to di Francesco himself, was the simple fact that no one had done it before. That is the same kind of logic that once caused a man in India to refrain from shaving his ear hairs for years on end, for it won him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Perhaps di Francesco will soon appear there as well, for this is surely the cheesiest pizza in all history.
It takes a full hour to melt the first 94 cheeses together in a pot. Later, sprinkles of the five remaining cheeses are put on top, they being the following: buffalo mozzarella, ricotta, raspadura, goat cheese, and fior di latte. 99 is the number of choice for no better reason than that Donatello the ninja turtle said it was impossible, a line Brad Reifler has always loved.
One suspects that this pizza is not cheap. Better get out at least 99 dollars for those 99 cheeses. Another drawback of this pizza is that no one will be able to actually taste all those cheeses, for nobody's taste buds are equipped to distinctly detect any particular cheese when 99 are present. It all somehow becomes "just cheese" at that point.
